Stories of Faith

I'm a Christian and proud of it. I attend church every Sunday and am always looking for ways to share my faith with people on a level that can connect with them. God gave me a great talent in writing and I want to use it to show others that Christians aren't all stuck up, holier-than-thou hypocrites. We have feelings, too. We go through the same life experiences as everyone else. In fact, those life experiences have changed very little in the past 5-10,000 years. That's where Stories of Faith come in.
The Bible isn't just a book of rules & regulations, it also contains some of the greatest literature ever written. I feel a great leading and desire to retell some of these stories in modern ways that have never been done before. Whether that's by modernizing the setting of the Epic of King David or by delving into the inner thoughts of the Disciples on the Emmaus Road after Christ's death.
Speaking of Christ, there is one story in particular I feel led to tell...
The Messiah
Okay, stay with me here...imagine Jesus as a biker. No, I don't think it's silly and no, I don't think it's sacrilegious. Just think about it a minute -- Jesus was an outcast from society, he associated with all manner of lowlifes from crooked tax collectors to prostitutes, and the Jewish people during his time were set apart from Roman society. It's the perfect backdrop.
I can't take credit for the concept. It was introduced to me by Joe White at the 2002 Promise Keepers event in Grand Rapids. Interlaced between each speaker, Joe did a modern characterization of Peter, reciting emotional monologues describing what Peter went through. In one of them, Jesus and the Disciples were bikers.
