How long will it take to complete my portrait?
Turn around time depends on the number of orders I currently have, but the average is 2 weeks. Upon completion, I'll send you a digital image to approve - if it is to your liking the portrait will be shipped out via USPS the next business day.

How do I send my photos after I place my order?
You may send your photos via e-mail to commissions@bucketoflizards.com. Files can be sent as JPEG, GIF, or any other format supported by PhotoShop 7. You may also send your photos via regular mail (all photos will be returned in same condition as received with the finished portrait).

How much time do I have to send my photos after payment is made?
You have up to 60 days to send your photos unless special arrangements are made. This should give you plenty of time to find the right photos for your custom portrait. Please e-mail me at commissions@bucketoflizards.com if you need to request an extension .

Can I submit a professional photograph to be worked from?
Certainly -- you can submit a professional photo for me to work from. The portrait drawn is a rendition of the original photo and is NOT infringing on any rights or copyrights of the photographer. Once a photograph has been manipulated (hand-drawn) the image has changed enough to become a new image and becomes property of Bucket of Lizards Creative Studios.

What technique and medium do you use to create these portraits?
I hand-draw each portrait from the photos provided by the purchaser. After an initial study of the subjects to be drawn, I lay out the portrait with a light pencil sketch, then bring it to life through details beginning with the eyes and moving outwards. Hard Charcoal and Colored Pencil portraits are rendered on high-quality, acid-free 70 lb. Drawing Paper.
Can you combine multiple photos into one portrait?
Of course, as long as you can provide me with photos of the different subjects as they are to be drawn in the portrait. This is perhaps the greatest aspect of custom portraits.
What are the prices?
Pricing is listed on my hire page. The prices are determined based on the amount of time and type of material and work needed to complete your portrait.
Why does it cost extra for additional subjects?
Portrait drawing can be a very time-consuming task. Each subject requires careful study and reproduction. Basically there are extra details, which mean extra time and extra cost.
Why do color portraits cost more than black & white portraits?
Color portraits cost more than black & white portraits due to the extra time needed to complete them. To achieve the proper look with colored pencil, I have to place layer upon layer to get the desired shade, color, tone, shape, etc.
Do you offer any kind of discount for multiple portraits?
If you would like a quote on your group of three or more portraits, e-mail me at commissions@bucketoflizards.com.
Are you available for special projects?
While I specialize in portraits of women, cats, & babies, I am available for just about anything you can think of. If you have a special project in mind, e-mail me at commissions@bucketoflizards.com for a custom quote.
What if I don't like something in the agreement?
The agreement has been established as a way to protect both the purchaser and the artist. It has been reviewed many times and rarely are there any problems with abiding by its content.
If you disagree for any reason, please feel free to e-mail me at commissions@bucketoflizards.com with the modification or addition to see if your request is feasible prior to placing your order.
What types of artwork won't you do?
I will not take on projects involving erotic nudity, lewdness, use of illegal substances, violence towards animals, or graphic violence of any type. I reserve the right to refuse any portrait requests for any reason.
