Influences
I'd have to say that one of my biggest influence so far as a writer is Erik Roman. Before he asked me to write the project that became Requiem, I hadn't really written anything for years. Erik convinced me I could do it and continues to push me in directions I never thought I could go on almost a daily basis.
As far as other influences go, I owe a lot right now to The DC Comics Guide to Writing Comics by Denny O'Neil and Screenplay by Syd Field. From there, I'd say I borrow certain characteristics from Stan "The Man" Lee, Kurt Vonnegut, Douglas Adams, Joss Whedon, Jerry Seinfeld and Larry David. And of course, the biggest inspiration for Requiem was M. Night Shymalan.
Favorite Books
Let me tell you a deep, dark secret ... I've never really been much of a book reader. Most of my reading is done in comic books, magazines, and computer screens. When I do have time to dig into a novel, I like the Left Behind series by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams and Slaughterhouse Five by Kurt Vonnegut.
Favorite Movies
This is a really hard one for me because I LOVE so many movies in so many genres. Keeping the list to a bare minimum, I'd have to say American Beauty, Army of Darkness, Very Bad Things, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Spy Kids, Merlin, Memento, Mission: Impossible 2, Monty Python & the Holy Grail, Princess
Mononoke, all flavors of Star
Wars (even the prequals), The
Matrix, and anything written by Kevin Smith.
Favorite TV Shows
Again, something I waste WAY too much time on, but now that I'm a writer I can call it research, right? Shows that regularly clutter up my Personal Video Recorder are Seinfeld, 24, Alias, Fastlane, Gilmore Girls (yes, I know it's a girly show, but the dialogue is brilliant!), The Simpsons, and the dearly departed Firefly.
 Hobbies
Well, when I'm not plopped in front of the TV watching a Movie or TV show, I'm usually plopped in front of the TV playing a video game ... my favorites are role-playing games like Skies of Arcadia and Final Fantasy.
I'm also a big auto racing fan, mostly NASCAR, and gave two of the best summers of my life to the Bluecoats Drum & Bugle Corps out of Canton, OH. I was a music major in college (which seems like a lifetime ago) and currently use my God-given talents by playing my saxophone, singing, and leading the music at Grace Bible Church in Plainwell, MI.
Samples of my singing and playing can be found at JazzWorship.com (under Performers).
Dream Project
Quitting my day job and making a living off of Bucket of Lizards.com and it's various projects and subsidiaries.
